Thick skin can limit the visibility of fine cartilage detail after rhinoplasty and make swelling slower to settle. Surgery may still be possible, but expectations need to be realistic.
Skin quality, oiliness, nasal support and breathing are assessed together. Another person's photograph cannot guarantee the same result. Skin thinning and steroid injections are not standard for everyone; risks include tissue injury, skin thinning and irregularity. Do not use massage, injections or medication independently to reduce swelling. Scheduled follow-up is important for judging the developing result.
The plan depends on the extent of surgery, skin, breathing and previous procedures. Consultation covers expectations, alternatives, bleeding, infection, scarring and possible further surgery. Recovery instructions must reflect your surgeon's individual plan.
Heavy bleeding, increasing pain with fever, visual changes or sudden deterioration require urgent assessment. Tell your surgeon about persistent concerns rather than waiting for the next routine appointment.
