Watering eyes can accompany nasal allergy or relate to tear-drainage problems. Nasal medication does not resolve every case.
Assessment covers redness, itching, one-sided symptoms, pain and previous eye surgery. Eye-surface disease may require ophthalmology review. If drainage obstruction is confirmed, treatment depends on its site and cause; DCR surgery is not needed for everyone. Reduced vision, severe eye pain or surrounding swelling requires urgent assessment. ENT and eye specialists may plan care together.
Diagnosis uses symptom duration and examination; endoscopy and CT are selected when needed. Saline, appropriate nasal medicines and sometimes surgery may form an individual plan. Not every sinus complaint needs antibiotics.
Seek emergency care for swelling around the eye, reduced vision, severe unusual headache or neurological symptoms. Use sterile, distilled or previously boiled and cooled water in nasal irrigation devices.
This information does not replace an individual consultation. Diagnosis and treatment depend on a medical assessment.
